‘Fuck You, 2016’ Katie from Leeds proudly proclaims to all and sundry on Twitter. Katie’s sentiments have been echoed by all sorts of people, from Madonna to Guy Richie. Neglecting to mention, of course, not only the fact that ‘2016’ is a man-made construct placed upon a defined period of astrological movements, but that time itself is a construct, meaning that December 31st and January 1st are one and the same because there is no such thing as a year or even a day.

Choosing to ignore these facts of life, Michael Georgson from Sunderland elected to continue to labour under the grand illusion, writing ‘George Michael AND Prince? I can’t go on. Go to hell 2016!’

Of course, this writer believes that if it brings comfort to people to blame the natural process of death on a period of ‘time’ then so be it. But don’t feel upset if I say ‘Fuck Off Idiots’ on Twitter.
