Niantic, the company behind the successful mobile game Pokémon Go, has already received scathing complaints from British users as it hits the app stores.
One user wrote: ‘I have to travel twenty miles to a different town in order to get to a pokestop. Apparently, there’s nothing of any historical, cultural, or religious merit in the entire city?’ (Chris988, Milton Keynes, 2 stars)
Another reviewer furiously wrote: ‘YEAH THEY SHOULD GO AND GET OUT — all I’m saying is they just don’t belong here. They look dodgy, they don’t speak the language, they’re all made in some foreign place, and it’s time for them to go and leave. And if we have to lock em up and dump them in the channel, so be it.’ (Nick4English, Dover, 1 star)
