Harvey Dowdy's face on a packet of Pilgrim's Choice Mature Cheddar cheese

Harvey Dowdy, Former Director of DTEF, Plans a Cheese Pilgrimage

Harvey Dowdy, former director of the University of York’s Department of Technology, Estates and Facilities, will be embarking on several Bikexplore cycling tours across Yorkshire this year. Seeking “pleasure first and foremost”, Harvey’s cycling tours feature “excellent cafe stops and comfortable accommodation”.

She’ll be cycling across the Vale of York, the Wolds and the North Yorkshire Moors over June, as well as a long weekend visiting Wharfedale, Wensleydale and Coverdale as part of a “Cheese Pilgrimage” in September.

Harvey was appointed to the University Executive Board in January 2022, serving as DTEF director for a couple of years before gracefully retiring last Summer.

The University has missed Harvey’s distinguished DTEF experience in the past few months, as the institution pushes through with drastic department cuts and an extensive voluntary severance scheme in an attempt to balance its multi million pound deficit.

However, the Lemon Press remains content in the knowledge that Harvey has escaped from the brewing hellhole in Heslington Hall for a quieter life on two wheels in the dales. Really, who can blame her?
