After proposed changes to the University Superannuation Scheme, lecturers have taken the matter into their own hands and put up three whiteboards that have sent Heslington into chaos.
Passing between Hes West and Hes East, the following can now be seen in bright red permanent marker: ‘Shafted While Retiring’, ‘And Still No Arrangement’ and ‘How Come, Koen Lamberts?’ It has proven a controversial message, which some people believe is an unwarranted attack on Koen Lamberts’ character. Claire Voyant, a third-year student, informed us that ‘nothing good can come of this dispute, anger begets anger.’
Borrowed for a month from JB Morrell Library, their presence has upset the local community. There are already those who want the whiteboards removed. ‘No-one likes what it has come to, I just don’t think these whiteboards are helpful’ said one of the few who happened to be heading to Hes East. Whatever happens next, to the whiteboards, or to the complex negotiations between UCU and Universities UK (UUK), The Lemon Press has got you covered.
